Laboratory

From the doctor's order to a flagged result, in one connected record.

OctoMediCare includes a laboratory information system for Kuwait clinics and hospitals. Orders arrive from the doctor with their priority, samples are identified by QR, and results return to the ordering doctor with abnormal values clearly marked.

  • Orders with Routine, Urgent or STAT priority
  • QR-identified samples
  • Results per parameter with reference ranges
  • Critical values flagged for the doctor

The problem

Paper requests and phoned results slow down care.

A lab that works on handwritten requests and printed reports is always one step behind the clinic.

  • Unclear or missing requests

Handwriting, missing tests and no stated priority mean the lab calls the doctor before it can start.

  • Mislabeled samples

Hand-written tube labels make it easy to match a sample to the wrong patient.

  • Critical results sitting in a tray

An urgent abnormal value waits on paper until someone notices it and calls the doctor.

  • Tests done but not billed

When the lab and billing do not share a record, some tests never reach the patient's invoice.

How it works

One sample, followed from order to result.

  1. 1

    Doctor orders

The doctor selects tests or panels from the catalogue in the chart and sets the priority.

  2. 2

    Sample collected

The sample is labeled and identified by QR, linked to the patient's visit and the exact order.

  3. 3

    Results entered

Lab staff record a structured result for each parameter, shown against its reference range.

  4. 4

    Doctor notified

Results go back to the ordering doctor, with critical values flagged so they are seen first.

What you get

A lab module built into the clinic, not bolted on.

  • Test catalogue with panels

Keep your tests and panels in one catalogue so doctors order exactly what your lab runs.

  • Priority ordering

Routine, Urgent and STAT priorities set by the doctor and visible on the lab worklist.

  • QR sample identification

Samples are matched to the right patient and order by scanning, not by reading handwriting.

  • Structured results

One value per parameter with reference ranges, so trends can be compared across visits.

  • Critical-value flags

Results outside safe limits are marked for the ordering doctor's attention.

  • Lab billing and reporting

Each completed test is linked to the patient's bill, and lab activity appears in your reports.

Why it matters

Faster answers for doctors, fewer gaps for the lab and billing.

When orders, samples and results share the same visit, the doctor sees the result in the chart instead of waiting for a printout. The lab stops chasing missing information.

Patients benefit too. Results can be shared through the patient portal, and every test performed is billed from the recorded order, not from memory.

  • Clear orders with priority from the start
  • Results in the doctor's chart, not a tray
  • Critical values highlighted early
  • Every test linked to the patient's invoice

Frequently asked questions

Is this a standalone laboratory information system or part of the clinic system?

It is part of OctoMediCare. Lab orders come from the doctor's chart, results return to it, and billing and reporting use the same records.

Can we set up our own test panels and reference ranges?

The test catalogue holds your tests and panels, and results are recorded per parameter against reference ranges. We will show how your current test list fits the catalogue during the demo.

Can OctoMediCare connect to our lab analyzers?

Talk to our Kuwait team about your specific lab equipment. We will review your analyzers and current workflow and explain what fits before you decide.

Can patients see their lab results online?

Yes. Patients can view their lab results through the bilingual patient portal, alongside their other medical documents.

See a lab order travel from doctor to result.

We will place a sample order, follow it through collection and results, and show where it appears on the bill and in the patient portal.
